The patients were aged between 34 and 100, with three aged between 54 and 68 known to have had underlying health conditions. 2.23pm BST A further 55 people have died after contracting Covid-19 in UK, taking the country’s death toll to 40,597. The rise is the lowest daily total of newly reported deaths since 22 March, according to PA analysis, but there is often a lag in the reporting of deaths over a weekend and the government figures do not include all deaths involving Covid-19 across the UK, which is thought to have passed 50,000.
