The storm has killed one person and forced 2,000 others to be evacuated from their homes in neighbouring South Korea. The Panamanian-registered vessel, called Gulf Livestock 1, sent the distress call from the East China Sea, to the west of Amami Oshima Island in south-western Japan, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.
