Tom George’s charge found only the much-heralded Samcro too strong in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at Prestbury Park and was a 3-1 shot to claim Grade One glory on Merseyside, with Cheltenham absentee On The Blind Side the 11-8 favourite. 2.44pm BST There’s a notable absence from our third race, the Maghull Novice Chase, as this was the race Footpad was supposed to be running in, after his scintillating effort to land the Arkle at the Festival. He’s apparently not ready to go again yet, but I imagine we’ll see him at Punchestown later in the month. In his stead, Petit Mouchoir is a strong favourite, having helped force the pace in the Arkle before finishing a tired third. He’s easily the pick of these six runners on raw ability but the question is whether he’ll be able to show it after that effort. Continue reading…
