In a year without her sister Serena, an opening has been left and she is seizing it. 2.56am BST Third set: Williams 6-3, 3-6,7-6 ( 7-2) Kvitova Williams jumped out to a 4-1 lead even adjusting her hair in the middle of one point. A wide shot from Kvitova put her up 5-1 on the changeover. Venus double-faulted on her first match point but then force Kvitova to hit wide on the second.
