Therefore the news that Chris Evans, the first human voice that over nine million people hear on weekday mornings, is leaving the Radio 2 breakfast show for a new presenting gig at Virgin, is a big deal. His style – chirpy chitchat, tooth-rattling jingles, honking horns – isn’t my cup of tea, but his show’s success is unprecedented.
