Entre 1912 y 1936, dos artistas, Juan Cabr\u00e9 y Francisco Ben\u00edtez, recorrieron Espa\u00f1a en burro en busca de las primeras obras de arte de la humanidad, elaboradas hace decenas de miles de a\u00f1os sobre lienzos de roca. \u201cMuchas de las pinturas rupestres han desaparecido. El \u00fanico testigo es esta colecci\u00f3n\u201d, explica la bi\u00f3loga en los archivos del Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, en Madrid. Cabr\u00e9 y Ben\u00edtez se jugaron la vida en riscos de cabras para calcar las pinturas directamente de las originales, con l\u00e1piz y papel vegetal. \u201cAqu\u00ed tenemos 2.200 de sus calcos.
