Streamed on its website, the Metropolitan Opera\u2019s At-Home Gala, featured more than 40 of the house\u2019s regular singers, most of whom performed live via Skype live from their living rooms and studies, or indeed, in the case of Diana Damrau and her husband Nicolas Test\u00e9, from their kitchen. General manager Peter Gelb and music director Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin presided over proceedings from their apartments in New York and Montreal respectively, while prerecorded footage allowed us to see and hear the Met\u2019s orchestra and chorus playing and singing in split-screen around N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin as he conducted.
