Growing up, both my parents shared custody with their former partners; at weekends, the house would be full. I believed as a child that this was a blissfully happy family. I was very close with all of my half-siblings and particularly close to one of them. When I was of primary school age, my parents told me that this sister wouldn\u2019t be coming over because she had decided she didn\u2019t want anything more to do with us.
