Google is planning to build a&nbsp;gigantic \u00a3600m \u201clandscraper\u201d in King\u2019s Cross, central London. It&nbsp;plans to \u201cbring our London Googlers together\u201d with a 25-metre swimming pool, massage rooms, a basketball court, nap pods and a 200-metre \u201ctrim trail\u201d, which loops around a rooftop meadow, to encourage \u201cthe Google culture of walking meetings\u201d, as the Guardian\u2019s architecture and design critic, Olly Wainwright, put it.This is where I begin to feel queasy. Google has its own \u201cculture\u201d, which its 7,000 London employees will presumably have to embrace cheerily while they work, jog, snooze, eat, play and eventually live on this monster \u201ccampus\u201d. Stuff the homeless locals. Also, what about the \u201cGooglers\u201d personal lives? I can\u2019t help thinking of deeply unpleasant outcomes. Is there anything more scary than the regimentation and homogenisation of thousands of people? Especially when&nbsp;it is dressed up to look so jolly, healthy, trendy, fun and sustainable.
