He was described, in the early reports, only as a \u201c36-year-old black man\u201d, who the sheriff\u2019s department said in a statement had been \u201crunning in and out of traffic\u201d early that afternoon and had \u201cassaulted\u201d a sheriff\u2019s deputy who approached him.
