But, wow, it\u2019s certainly impressiveThere was a glint in Diego Simeone\u2019s eye as he pointed at his chest, mouthed \u201cme\u201d and turned. Right-footed, he struck the ball into the back of the net, not far from the near post. It was Friday evening north east of the capital, the final rehearsal before their grand opening night and one big question had been resolved already. Well, sort of. Some 68,000 seats sat empty, yet to be broken in, and the tap-tap of training was the only sound still, real noise put on hold for 24 hours, but the first goal at Atl\u00e9tico Madrid\u2019s new home had been scored by the captain of their double-winning side and manager of the team moving in.\u201cThe most important thing is the three points,\u201d Simeone said soon after, but that grin underlined that he knew better than anyone that really wasn\u2019t true. \u201cYou try to focus on work but it\u2019s not easy: we\u2019re all human,\u201d he admitted the following night. \u201cWhen you get to the stadium, however much you tell yourself \u2018don\u2019t look, don\u2019t feel, don\u2019t watch, don\u2019t gaze around\u2019, you do it.\u201d Everyone did \u2013 from the moment they arrived on Saturday morning. This, wrote Atl\u00e9tico-supporting Patricia Caz\u00f3n, \u201cwas one of those days that\u2019s historic just because the sun comes up.\u201d After 50 years at the Vicente Calder\u00f3n, Atl\u00e9tico had a new stadium. \u201cYour dream home,\u201d Marca called it.
